About Brighteyes Learning

Activity 1

Long strips of paper

Markers, pencil, crayons, etc..

Using a ruler mark inches on piece of paper

Use only 1 line with corresponding number

Allow children to measure anything (markers, cars, blocks, etc..)

Have them come tell you what number it goes to

Have them mark it and bring it to you

Talk about what the numbers mean

i.e.. The stapler goes to the number 4,

This means the stapler is 4 inches long

Do the same for their marks and point out the numbers as you talk about it.

Activity 2

Tape measure

Items to measure

Chart paper

Walk around the room and measure different items

Write down on chart paper what you measured

Draw a ruler or tape measure along the side

Mark accordingly how long each item was

Which item is bigger?
